MICROBLADING
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that allows you to reconstruct the brows you've always wanted. You are able to both achieve a natural finish, or bolder look to your prefrence.
This service is performed by the manual deposit of pigment under the epidermal layer of the skin by a hand held tool. While some small amount of discomfort is to be expected, we do use numbing agents to aid with the procedure.
How long does Microblading last?
There are different factors to consider when determining how long your microblading will last. Oily skin types tend to fade quicker than dry skin but many different lifestyle choices will also effect this. This means it can last anywhere between 6 months up to 2 years. We recommend a visit approximately 4 -6 weeks after your first initial treatment, for a touch up to help your microblading last as long as possible.
How to care for your new brows
PRE-CARE
– Do not work out the day of the procedure.
– Do not tan or have sunburned face.
– Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or IBUprofen 24 hours before procedure.
– No alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure.
– No waxing or tinting 3 days before.
– Please note that you will be more sensitive to any pain during your menstrual cycle.
The Following treatments are not recommended 30 days before the treatment:
Botox and Filers
Fruit or Milk acids
Laser Treatments
Chemical Peels
Exposure to strong sunlight
POST-CARE
Should be done immediately
– The tattooed area will appear darker and bolder, as well as more sharply defined. This will last up to a week.
– During the 6-8 week healing process, the tattoo will soften and lighten. The true colour will appear after at least 6 weeks.
– Redness and swelling is usually minimal, and will disappear within 48 hours, in rare case it may reach 3 days.
– The treated area may feel a bit like sunburn afterwards but there should be minimal discomfort.
– Make sure hands are washed thoroughly before touching tattooed area.
– Keep the tattooed area clean by using a damp tissue or clean cloth and gently wipe over brows before applying after-care balm
– While showering or bathing, avoid getting the area wet
– Do not go swimming, sauna or exercising where there is excessive sweating for at least 7-14 days after treatment
– Only use after-care balm given at the end of your treatment for the following week.
– DO NOT pick or scratch at the dry skin/flakiness; let the scabs fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment. IMPORTANT: Once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the hair strokes. It may appear as though the tattooed area has completely disappeared. Within 1-2 weeks, the hair strokes will slowly reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.
– DO NOT apply make-up to the tattooed area for the first 2 weeks. Chemicals of any kind may interfere with the healing and colour of your tattoo.
– Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your follow-up appointment no sooner than 6 weeks later
What is the mapping process?
The mapping process we use is to determine your ideal eyebrow shape according to your facial features. Laura will always consult with you before hand on any preferences you may have and will always show and confirm the shape with you before moving ahead with the treatment. This process can take a little while, as Laura will be mapping everything as perfect and symmetrical as possible. So please be patient and you will have the best results!
Who would benefit from Microblading?
Microblading can benefit people who:
Have over-plucked their eyebrow hairs
Have gaps or scars where the hair has not grown back
Are suffering from Alopecia (hair loss), weak or light hair
Want a particular shape for their eyebrows
Want to save time getting ready
This microblading method is perfectly suitable if client wants to correct their current eyebrow shape, add volume to brows or fill in sparse areas. It is also suitable for clients with no eyebrow hairs, as we will create a new, beautiful, naturally looking brows. This treatment is ideal if client has suffered from cancer and due to chemo/radio therapy lost brow hairs or suffers from alopecia or other medical condition that resulted in eyebrow hair thinning or loss.
How long is the appointment?
Laura will usually set aside 3-3.5 hours for a Microblading session. This includes the consult, numbing time and the procedure.
Can I get tattooed if I’m pregnant or breast feeding?
No, it is not recommended. During the time of pregnancy and afterwards during breast feeding, we are not allowed to use any numbing agents and it would not be recommended to do without. You are better off waiting until after you are done breast feeding to go ahead with the procedure. For your own safety and comfort.
I have been using Accutane medication, can I still get Microblading done?
No, you must wait at least 1 year minimum after stopping any accutane medication. The reason for this is because Accutane medication thins your skin and if we were to Microblade your eyebrows, you run the rest of serious scarring. It is best to wait 1 year after to achieve the best, safest results.
I have been using retinol, can I still get Microblading done?
You will need to wait a minimum of 2 weeks after stopping with the Retinol, before you can go through with the treatment.
If you have any further questions about Microblading and if it is an option for you, contact Laura and she will answer any queries.
